Great idea CandyO. This is a once in a generation opportunity for America to take the lead on green technology.
I believe Detroit went through a similar thing after the 70's oil shock, they stopped building muscle cars and started building more fuel efficient vehicles.
Cars need to be way lighter, and powered without emissions.

The thing that blows my mind, is that in 1941 it took GM 3 weeks to reconfigure from making cars to guns, and that was with the "old" technology.
Surely with modern technology the benifit of flexibility would be apparent?
