Hello Zack, I will be using the Enphase Envoy in the future as it will inform the user of a health of the modules. I will be using the GEM / DB as the primary source of data collections though. I have not researched if the Envoy allows the end user to export the data to be honest. Just what I have seen on their site has been made known to me. The over all intent of the Envoy for me is to track the solar generation, and the over all health of the system and be alerted of any failures. There are back up services in place to inform me now. But, more information the better I say! Please let me know if you have any other questions and nice to meet you! Teken . . .

Hey Teken,

I've been following your threads at GarageJournal, and appreciate your feedback on Brultech forums.

I noticed you were planning on going with enphase microinverters.  I'm curious, did you end up using the Enphase Envoy communication gateway at all, or just go with the GEM to provide your readings both for your PV system as well as your house?  If you used the Envoy, where do you dump the data?

Thanks,

 - Zack

Hey Teken

Can you help me get the Brultech GEM communicating with the EngineG software?

Thank

Teken -

Sweet... I too have a pimped-out-home and love it.  I used to own an automation company and decided to build a show home.  I equiped it with Crestron lighting, HVAC, house audio, theater, and custom energy management programming.  I travel a lot and it is great being able to view security cameras, turn on the hot tub, and verify all electrical systems are working.  I use several load shedding devices and with awareness comes energy savings.  I am saving around $1000 a year.  The monitoring and load shedding investment paid off in the first year.

Thanks for your reply - Brad

Hello Brad, I am currently running the GEM using firmware COM 1.53 & Engine 1.35. I have 28 active channels measuring every circuit in the home. I have recently purchased 8 temperature probes and will be deploying them upon receipt of the sensors. So far I am only using the SEG website to capture and record the GEM streaming data. So far it seems to work very well and the accuracy seems very good. I plan on integrating the GEM with the UDI ISY-99i Pro so my Insteon Home Automation (HA) system can react to the homes current conditions and regulate power usage where and when possible. Just trying to get all the eyes, hands, and feet of the system to integrate and play nicely with one another. The last two years has been a complete blast in automating my brand new home! Welcome to the Brultech SEG Group.

From your posts looks like you are running a GEM?

What is your system setup?

What software/scripts are you running?

Thanks - Brad

Teken - I left some notes on my profile to get the GEM up and running:

http://smartenergygroups.com/evandepol

It's very basic, but let me know if it was of any help!

Keep in mind that the GEM outputs Watt Seconds, but SEG expects Watt Hours - This can be fixed using the calibration field in SEG.com (1/3600 = 0.000278), but I'm planning to do the conversion in a later version of the script later on to save effort and reduce mistakes.

Erik, That sounds great! I look forward to any updates you may have along with insight with respect to capturing the data packets and having them published to this web site. Teken . . .
