Anyone have a nest thermostat? What do you thnk of it?
If you do do you have it hooked up to this web site?
I am thinking about getting one. I love the auto away feature. I work outside the home but my wife stays home with our daughter and will never adjust the thermostat when they leave the house. So the Ac or heater is on all day every day.

Hey Phil,
It is a very pretty thing :) I haven't seen one yet however.
I doubt it would be possible to hook into SEG... My bet is that it is as proprietary as can be, and can only ever work with their web service.
That said... It's quite simple to get a SEGmeter to measure the temperature at the Nest and then measure the enery used by the heating and cooling! That way you can spy on what it's actually doing!

They don't expose their API, so I will probabbly write a web page scraping app to get the data from thier system to upload here. I do the same process with the thinkeco wall outlet measuring devices called modlet as they don't expose any APIs either.
I was able to play with the nest at two different stores yesterday. It is very very pretty and seems to be fairly functional. They have already realeased v2 of the software which it will self update . For me my favorite feature is the ability to detect if anyone is home and adjust the temperature as I can not convince my wife to change her behavior when she leaves the house.

Scrape! Did you ever get that data change done? If not, let me know and we can work together to fix you SEG data.
There is so much magic in the thermostat space, our V2 SEGplug is going to be very interesting!
We have had Contol in SEG for some time, it's in alpha... Let me know if you'd like to get it? There are timers, thermostats and other things. It's essentially based around streams control devices, so this scenario isn't so hard really...

A v2 SEGplug? Is that to measure individual wall outlets?
