Not quite sure what you're looking for, but if it's to get a cost total per day from a stream it can be done if you have a fixed rate.

You need to set the cost per KW. This is done under "setting", this can be found under "tools". Once in setting you will see a box "energy price", enter your cost per KW, if it is 20 cents, enter it as 0.2

When you have done this, go into your dashboard and add the gadget "todays cost" select the stream that you would like to do this for, save it.  This will show the current cost on that dashboard, to get the total from a prior day, select the calendar from the dashboard and push it back.

Unfortunately SEG only allows for one cost, I to have a kind of two cost system, the price of delivery charge and a power supply charge (which can vary from month to month by a couple of cents per KW) and three different rate charges. So what I have done is look at a couple of  monthly bills add the total KW's up and divide by the total dollar amounts which also includes taxes meter rentals and the like and came up with an average which in my case is 20 cents per KW.

So you need to remove the two cost amounts from the "energy price" and use one average price. It's not as accurate but of the course of time it works out pretty close.

I know I've tried changing it, added a note when editing, doesn't do anything. This is something that Sam should look into. What can be done is a little Message in the "say something" gadget and move it above the the "todays cost" gadget.

See it below on my public page, you will see a cost of about $8 and above it it says LIPA

Hey All,

I know this nifty little problem... and have deliberately not solved it (as a side note, I have made 3 utility billing engines before SEG) and it can be a complex beast to solve all the various problems.

That said, there is some time of use base pricing, and likely some demand and fixed charges that are in the list oif things to do at some point in time.

In the mean time, there is something kinda simple that I could do:

A feature not public is to calculate a calculated stream where it has it's values multiplied by a number (there is also divide, thresholds and a bunch of other operations as well.

I could set up something where the energy price and carbon values could be used to create a calculated stream showing a profile for a dollar unit.  This would mean the dollar based calcualted stream would be presentable in a dashboard like all the others.

Let me know back here if this is something that could roll?

Thanks!

Sam would it be possible to add the stream name into the "today's cost" gadget. This would be helpful if tracking costs from different streams. The gadget as it stands right now simply states "today's cost" and while there is options for "title" and "notes" neither is actually displayed on the gadget in the dashboard.

On most of the other gadgets the stream title is included with the gadget on the dashboard. Currently I use the "today cost" gadgets to track my mains cost and also use it to track my geothermal cost and solar production dollars generated.  Since I have them in separate dashboards it's a little easier to know which is which but if I placed them into a single dashboard  it would be hard to figure out which one is which.

Hey Tony,

With the pricing improvements I am thinking, the todays cost would get a makeover to be a much better gadget overall, and it's nice to hear your suggestions which make a lot of cents (pun intended).  ;)

@samotage. what about getting the title problem fixed?

I would also like to display multiple "total cost" gadgets, but they're useless if they're all titled "total cost" rather than the titles that i assign.
