This morning, I left home to find a brand new telephone book left outside my front door. It had been raining overnight, and the phone book was wet. I suppose like the others this will go straight to the recycle bin.
I tweeted, and recieved this helpful reply from @AndyCronin about an opt out service I didn't know about, so I sat on my telephone for 5 minutes waiting, before a helpful operator completed my opt out.
It's crazy these days, that phone books are an opt out - an option few people even know about. If you would like to opt out it's possible to go here for the details.
I've also heard and recognise the argument about the elderly and accessability. From all the elderly people I know, the phone book would have to be the most inaccessable way to find a phone number when a calling 12456 will yield a friendly human, that will even connect the call.
Instead, wouldn't it be better if they put flyers like these in everyone's mailbox and call it done?
